Jananayak Chandrashekar University is a state university which was established in 2016 by the government of Uttar Pradesh in Ballia. It is an affiliating university and the university begins its first season in 2016-2017 with the 122 colleges situated in Ballia. These 122 colleges of Ballia were formerly adapting the affiliation from Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith situated in Varanasi. For the academic year 2016-2017, the examination for the students was conducted by the Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith situated in Varanasi but the degree to the students was provided by Jananayak Chandrashekar University, Ballia.
